The SafeSleep Niagara media kit showcases my ability to plan, write, and produce professional communication materials aligned with real organizational goals. The project required creating a complete media package, including a media advisory, news release, fact sheet, and supporting visuals. The objective was to raise awareness about SafeSleep Niagara’s initiative and communicate its mission clearly to journalists, community members, and potential stakeholders.
Throughout the project, I applied key public relations skills such as strategic messaging, media writing, and information organization. One of the main challenges I faced was condensing complex information about homelessness and community services into clear, concise, and media-friendly content. To overcome this, I analyzed similar campaigns, revised multiple drafts, and ensured that every message was accurate, purposeful, and aligned with SafeSleep Niagara’s tone and goals.
This project demonstrated my ability to structure information effectively, prioritize key messages, and write using professional media formats. It also strengthened my understanding of how PR practitioners communicate with reporters and support non-profit organizations through well-prepared materials. Completing this media kit improved my writing confidence, enhanced my attention to detail, and reinforced the importance of clarity and empathy when addressing sensitive community issues.
Overall, this project reflects my growing competency as a PR professional and highlights my readiness to produce meaningful communication tools for real-world clients.
